I was at the Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Winnipeg Jets a couple of weeks ago (the Jets won 3-1, but more importantly there were ZERO fights). It was a very enjoyable experience, but I won't be rushing back.

They certainly know how to make it less shit than it really is, these Americanish people - I certainly enjoyed drinking 1.5 pint glasses in my seat!

Re: NHL playoffs
Funny thing about Gretzky is, as great as he is, and as liked and respect as he is, I don't think he is near most people's "favourite ever player" at least not around here.

As for the playoffs, my horse isn't in the run, so I can only hope for certain others to not win.

Re: NHL playoffs
Gretzky has the enviable title of being the only Ice Hockey player that 99.9% of the worlds population will have ever heard of. Can't say that about many sports for an individual.

I literally couldn't name a single other player.

Sport that always bored me to death and I bet my beloved cricket, so touche :o)most hockey fans would think the same about

Did however love it when Vancouver lost the final Stanley Cup match and had a huge fucking riot.

Get some of their fans on the thread about if you care when your team loses to see what they say!!! ha ha

Horrible clubs, both won their titles by cheating. And pure scummy supporters as well.

Re: NHL playoffs
I spent a year as a 13 year old living in Canada in the early 80’s and ended up following the Oilers who had a great side at the time.

Gretzky was the star, with the ‘99’ shirt being very iconic.

Pretty sure his head was turned by a bird and he ended up in LA or somewhere?

I'm afraid the Great One retired in 1999 playing his last game for the New York Rangers
